Since my childhood, I was a naughty boy but good at study at the same time. But then my parents were worried about me. One day my father told me to pack up luggage and follow me. I followed him. Suddenly, he registered me in a school with hostel facilities and returned back home leaving me there alone. That school was English medium school and I was from Hindi (Nat'l Language of India) medium school. Although, I knew lot of English words but I was not in a position to understand a book written in English. So, it was a very difficult situation for me to handle. At this juncture, I met a wonderful teacher who made me felt that I can handle this situation very cleverly. He suggested me that there is no substitute of self study. So, you just start self study and make books your friend. After going through books, wherever you will find any problem, you just come and ask me. I did the same and started doing well in the school thereafter.
Since then I believed in self-study and made books my friend. I started doing well in the study. With the passage of time, I had a good grasp on English along with other subjects. I stood first in the English medium school and that day was the happiest moment of my life. Although, that school was limited to 7th grade so I had to join other school. But then I used to visit that school time and again in order to seek some advice from that wonderful teacher. He was really a man of good character. He believed in sharing of knowledge. He used to say that if you share knowledge with others, your knowledge will be polished automatically. He also used to say that knowledge is power and no one can snatch this power from you. So, always enhance your knowledge. In the beginning, it was very difficult to understand all this things but as if now it sounds great. However, after completing my secondary education, I moved other part of country and we were not in touch but before coming here, I met him and took blessing from him. Most important thing is that he still knew me.
I believe that because of his undue concern in my early phase of life, I got rid of such kind of troubles and improved my English proficiency at the same time. I still believe that there is no substitute of self study. One should follow the teacher's sayings and work accordingly. As if now , self- study is part and parcel of my life.

ReplyDelete1.What I like about your essay is that your body paragraph is full of details. I could easily understand what kind of person your teacher was.
2.Your main point seems to be that the teacher that you met back in middle school had a positive influence on you during your formative years.
3. I like this line, 'He believed in sharing of knowledge. He used to say that if you share knowledge with others, your knowledge will be polished automatically.' because, I think it is a very good supporting detail that explains his character very well.
4. I cannot tell which one is the thesis statement in the introduction paragraph of this essay, and I think some of the sentences in the introduction paragraph should be placed in the body paragraph.
5. I think you could improve your essay by adding details of the physical description of your teacher.
