My favorite teacher
Throughout all of our lives we encounter many diverse and sometimes inspirational teachers. They teach us about math, science, history, art, different subjects in order to make us understand the basic necessary information and understanding of this world that we are living in and to help us become professionals for the society. Though many of them we wish we could strangle, there are plenty that end up engraving a warm spot in our hearts. And more often than not, one of those teachers ends up being our favorite. The one for me was my music teacher in high school and he taught me life lessons that I won't ever forget.
Music is a big part of my life. So, I made sure that I got into any kinds of music classes I could when I was a young. I didn't mind most of my classes, hated a few of them, but I looked forward to the music classes I had every day. There were a few different teachers we had in our music department but my favorite was Mr. Placek. His looks were very unique that I can still vividly recall his appearance. He was very tall and a white skinny guy with long arms which often reminded me of a younger version of the Big Friendly Giant. Also, he had brown short curly hair with oddly shaped sideburns. Mr. Placek taught me a lot, making more of an impact on me that I even knew at the time. He always was there to help me with anything I needed, be it music or help with everyday life problems. Keeping an open mind and always looking at any situation from every angle were some of the points he held with an utmost significance. With his guidance, I was able to learn life lessons that helped make the person I am today.
I will never forget Mr. Placek and the things he taught me. He is a prime example of what a teacher is meant to be to a student. Though I haven't always gotten along with all of my teachers, I always remember him and his teachings and respect them, even if I want to strangle them sometimes.I am truly glad that Mr. Placek is my favorite teacher of all times.
1. What I like about this piece of writing is a way you describe your teacher’s look.
ReplyDelete2. Your main point seems to be your music teacher, Mr. Placek.
3.‘Keeping an open mind and always looking at any situation from every angle were some of the points he held with an utmost significance. With his guidance, I was able to learn life lessons that helped make the person I am today.’
struck me as powerful: It strongly gives a message that what teachers should be.
4. NONE
5.The one change you could make that would make the biggest improvement in this piece of writing is more descriptions of him. Since you wrote that you had several classes of music, there is no mention about what Mr. P taught.
From Noh Young Sun to Kim Kyung Un
ReplyDelete1. I really like the way you described how Mr Placek became and remains a special person in your life in the body paragraph.
2. Your main point seems to be that your favorite teacher Mr Placek, had a significant and positive impact on your life.
3. I like this line 'I was able to learn life lessons that helped make the person I am today.', since it tells the readers he was not just a mere music teacher; he was more like a mentor who taught you from his heart.
4. I think the word' strangle' in the introduction and the conclusion paragraphs is a too strong word. You could use other words to describe your hatred towards other teachers that you had back in middle or high schools .or whatsoever.
4. Even though I like your description of him, I think your essay lacks supporting details that show the readers how exactly he had helped you. Other than that, I have no complaints. Your essay was a true joy to read^^

For instance, when I was having problems with adjusting to the international school life, where I had many problems speaking fluently in second language and getting used to different educational system, he would always talk to me after class. Mostly, he made me feel better and made me confident of myself so that I can get along with others easily. Also, by explaining precisely of how I should approach this new school life with different aspects, such as instead of merely studying English, getting involved in a variety of different school activities and getting on stage and showing my musical skills, helped me to enjoy my school life later on. I eventually participated in tennis club, cheerleading and even chess club where I met new interesting friends and they helped me with many things. With his guidance, I was able to learn life lessons that helped make the person I am today.
